Cougar Club of New England – 2008 Annual Survey Results

Summation: Things are OK but there’s room for improvement
Bill Pratt - Chairman

In preparation for the 2008 season, Dan Houde developed a survey through which club members could express their opinions on various topics of interest and provide guidance to the Board for developing show schedules, site locations, and content.

Overall, the results suggest that the membership is generally satisfied but recognizes that there are opportunities for improvement in a number of areas.

And the Survey Said...

How satisfied are you with the Cougar Club of New England?

    1. 5 members are completely satisfied and looking forward to the 2008 season
    2. 10 members feel that we have a pretty good club but need to pick it up a notch.
    3. The remaining 3 respondents are unsatisfied and either aren’t sure what to do or will not renew.

How many events would you like to see from the CCNE per year?

    1. 1 member selected one event per season
    2. 8 members selected two events
    3. 7 members selected three events
    4. 3 members selected four events
    5. 2 members selected five events

The CCNE basically has only 1 of its own events… The Fall Show at Bobby’s Girl Dinner.  The others are “piggy-backs” on other events.  How satisfied are you with this choice?

    1. 2 members are perfectly satisfied
    2. 6 members are very satisfied
    3. 9 members are somewhat satisfied
    4. 1 member is not at all satisfied

CCNE members are spread throughout New England… but most are in MA and NH.  Where would you like to see more events?

    1. 2 members chose Maine
    2. 12 members replied Massachusetts
    3. 1 member selected Vermont
    4. 5 members selected New Hampshire
    5. 1 member selected Rhode Island
    6. 2 members skipped the question

How far are you willing to drive or trailer your car to a CCNE event?

No members chose 20 miles

1 member selected 50 miles

10 members chose 100 miles

7 members selected 100+ miles

How important is the following at an event? - This was too complex to translate as done above for the preceding questions, but here are the importance rankings, in descending order of importance:

    1. Looking at other cars (8.84)
    2. Seeing/chatting with other members (8.63)
    3. The weather (8.11)
    4. Meeting new people (7.84)
    5. A cruise (6.74)
    6. Food and beverages (5.32)
    7. Music (4.63)
    8. Quality of cars at event (3.79)
    9. Winning an award (2.63)
    10. In comments, some members noted photos and a little friendly competition as important

The CCNE has had problems recruiting volunteers and Board members.  What would you recommend to do about this?  Answers to this question ranged from the whimsical to the constructive and everywhere in between:

    1. “Find some retired guys with nothing else to do.” (Example of whimsical)
    2. Focus more on the social so there isn’t as much to organize (example of constructive)

Thank you for taking this survey.  Do you have any additional comments or suggestions for the club? 5 people replied and 11 skipped the question.

The entire Board of Directors thanks those members who responded to the survey. Please continue to contact us with any and all suggestions.  This is your club and it will be as good as our collective brain power and commitment can make it.

The 2008 season is upon us – see you all soon!
